The industrial revolution started in Great Britain in the late 1700s starting with Sir Richard Arkwright inventing the spinning machine, which worked in the same way as a clock and was powered by a water wheel, and the modern factory, revolutionizing mass production. In 1790, American Samuel Slater brought the industrial revolution to America by creating the first industrial mill in America, borrowed from a British design. Soon, new organizational strategies started being created in order to increase productivity. The major breakthrough during the industrial revolution was the factory, allowing a lot of work to be done is a centralized location. In order to keep factories maintained and running, labor was greatly used. The industrial revolution greatly strengthened America’s economy and allowed for mass production of many items
